SO RELIGIOUS

by Sunday, June 11, 2017

Todays post is all about makeup, or the lack thereof during this month of Ramadan. It’s not because I’ve suddenly become more religious, or suddenly decided that makeup is a big fat sin, it’s simply because I have no energy for anything, let alone my face, you’ll be glad to know.

On that note, can we stop putting the makeup wearers and the non makeup wearers into competitive comparisons and just let women live. You ain’t suddenly a Sheikha if you’ve decided to quit wearing makeup during Ramadan and you don’t deserve a medal for it either.  Contrary, you shouldn’t be judged for deciding to spend time wearing makeup in Ramadan. This ‘holier than thou’ attitude that women automatically have because they’ve justified  being ‘extra religious’ by not wearing foundation in Ramadan is actually laughable. Who are you kidding? Where do we makeup these rules? Excuse the pun and all that. Moral of the story is, a judgemental trait will make you ugly… and no amount of makeup can cover that up.

Here’s to my laid back denim on denim look, and here’s to a lot more makeup free posts because I’m NOT ‘religious.’

    Dear Dina,

thank you for this beautifully written text! I support your message with all my heart although i am not a Muslim and i don’t celebrate Ramadan, but this is not the point. The point is that I believe that no one should bei judged for the choices they make about their style or other decisions in life. Because of that i am so glad that you always honestly share your opinion with the World.
I wish you and your family a blessed Ramadan and a wonderful eyd,

    Love, Arnica

Dina, you’re so so normal i mean its a fact that we are left with no energy to wear makeup in Ramadan but there are times when we suddenly feel energized and wear some. It definitely has nothing to do with religion. to all the people who pass such comments, please find some time and prepare a non-judgmental you .
I look up to your blogs/vlogs everyday/week. Keep up the good work gorgeous!

I totally agree with the notion that no one should judge. No one can identify your intentions. Allah has given that privilege only for Him alone. No human has that privilege. However if you decide to not wear makeup during Ramadan because your to tired or even religiously speaking. Your not a hypocrite and no one has the right to say otherwise. Makeup can be seen as tabbaruj so abstaining from it can make you gain more reward especially in the month of Ramadan, so even if it is that your reason is tiredness, by re establishing intention we can seek reward for it.

It just seems like people are scared of being known as pursuing deen because of silly few that judge everyone and anyone. We call
Things as they are which is why I like your honesty.

In the end We will be rewarded for an atoms worth of good so let’s all try and renew our intentions and race for good deeds 🙂 especially in this beautiful time.
