LOOKING BAD-ASS IN FLORAL – H&M

by Saturday, October 1, 2016

In todays post I’m sharing the love.

In light of the new H&M Autumn Collection Campaign that aims to spotlight strong, fearless and independent woman by questioning femininity and showcasing women who are reclaiming and redefining what it means to be #LadyLike for themselves.

I’m featuring a woman who inspires me and many universally everyday. A woman who’s boldness has broken the stereotype and so many barriers and will continue to do so when it comes to what the ideal of the Muslim woman of today is. How she looks, acts and thrives, a woman so bold and beautiful challenging society by just being. And yet doing so with such effortless elegance, there are not many like her. Who am I referring to? Non other than the sassy songstress which is YUNA of course.

I came across YUNA a few years back and immediately fell in love with her voice, her style and her whole persona. If you’re not aware YUNA is a muslim woman who also wears the hijab whilst pursuing a very, very successful career in music. Rocking her scarf in plenty of chic styles, her individuality is just as striking as her voice. I love it when someones style screams their personality but what I respect so much about YUNA is that it’s evident to see she’s stayed true to herself, her belief and her values amidst the success in her what some might say ‘unconventional’ line of work. It’s not everyday that you find a muslim hijab wearing pop star selling out arenas all over the world. And selling out for the right reasons that is, her music and purely that.

I’ve styled two looks below with YUNA in mind.

For this look I’ve branched out a little and gone for something I wouldn’t usually go for. Sometimes it’s refreshing to try something different, sometimes you need to NOT think about things too much, forget the rules and just put on whatever makes you feel good about YOU. Forget what you’re taught and forget what people expect.

So here’s what ‘Dina feeling like a bad-ass’ looks like.

Yo go girl! So proud of you and looking up to you, you’re an inspiration to me and my brand and I’m grateful for the day I discovered you on the web. Just like Yuna, you’re a bold as fearless woman striving to achieve her dreams, the exact kind of women who I spire me everyday to create my clothes.
Keep up the good work, and looking forward to meeting you someday.

    Ps. This outfit is amazing!

amazing and inspiring words Dina!! Love the outfit too, you are always a huge inspiration. Another person who inspires me to not only be a better human being but to fight for what you want and believe in life is none other then Tejano Mexican Singer Selena Quintanilla who died many years ago. If you haven’t heard of her before, I highly recommend you youtube her music and watch the film Selena who was played by JLO. I have no doubt that you will fall in love with her energy and spirit and will see why she is still the Tejano Queen til this day.

Again, great post. You’re amazing !

I absolutely adoreeeee your style! And it’s so amazing you’re talking about Yuna in this blog post (If it wasn’t you writing this, I would’ve genuinely thought it was about you!!). I think you and Yuna are both very similar: fearless, bold and inspiring. I literally just found out her and LisnUpClothing are doing a collab and soo excited for it!

Has some funky vibes to it, I love it!

This might be off topic but I was wondering if you have any plans on designing burkinis in the near future? It would be amazing if you did that, with your fashion sense 😀

    Have a great day xo
