I’m not sure how many of you know this about me, but when I was younger, until my late teens, I used to enjoy horse riding as my weekly hobby. Every time I would turn up to my lesson I would have butterflies in my stomach with feelings of excitement, adrenaline and fear. I managed to get up to grade four and we’d just started getting the hang of jumping. Unfortunately, I had a few falls as with every rider, but I let my fear get the best of me and sadly decided to quit.
Except for the occasional hack, it’s been about nine years since I’ve ridden, and I’ve been meaning to get back into it for a while now. As you know I’ve recently been getting out-and-about more thanks to Danone ‘Light* and Free’ yogurts. I’m starting to enjoy a lot more outdoor activities, especially now that it is finally summer in the UK. In a bid to find, or in my case re-visit an old passion of mine, this week I finally decided to take the plunge and book myself in for a lesson!
It was just half an hour long as advised by my instructor until I get back into the swing of things, but gosh was it one of the most amazing half hours of my life! Once you know how to ride it is kind of like knowing how to ride a bike, you never really forget. As soon as I got on everything came flooding back to me and I was back on that canter like nobody’s business! Although I was very nervous at first I’m so glad I’ve finally made that first move to get back into it, I’ve even booked myself in for an hour’s lesson next week!
And guess what? I even managed to persuade Sid (who’s never even been on a horse before) to book his first ever lesson too! RESULT!
